Working Harder to Make Your Job Easier

President's Message

From the Desk of the President

To TDIAI members and interested persons,

I would like to thank everyone for their support of the 74th Annual TDIAI Conference in The Woodlands this year.  The participation of the committees that worked hard to insure that the conference was a success is immeasurable.  Rick Anderson and the Host Committee worked tirelessly to make sure things ran smoothly while also providing a golf tournament to kick things off.  Joel Stephenson and the Vendor Committee did such a fantastic job of lining up so many vendors. The Program Committee worked hard lining up speakers and making sure their needs were met during the conference.  Speakers and sponsors who donated time and money are greatly appreciated.   I would like to thank Cici Hernandez and the Woodlands Resort staff for working with us to have a successful conference.

I appreciate the support and confidence from conference attendees to allow me to serve as President of the Texas Division of the IAI.  It is difficult for me to put into words the admiration I have for past presidents and for the membership at large for the difficult and demanding professions they have undertaken.  There are members past and present whose efforts have held this division together over the years.  Division secretaries, like Celestina Rossi, who maintain records, dues, initiates membership application processing and makes sure the right people get the right information and that it gets done the right way.  Treasurers, like Rick Anderson, who deal with the finances and makes sure the accounts are up to date.   Historians, like Joe Maberry and the late Charles Parker, who maintain historical documentation of one of the oldest IAI Divisions in the United States.    And editors, like Mark Wild, who consistently publishes the TDIAI’s magazine and strives to maintain its quality.  The next time you see or talk these people let them know they are appreciated.

Let’s not forget those members who serve on committees either.  Committee participation is a good way to get involved with the TDIAI.  We are always looking for committee members, so if you are interested contact any of the association officers.

The Texas Division’s Constitution, By-Laws, Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct have been reviewed and updated.  The final vote and approval for these changes occurred at this year’s conference in the Woodlands.  Please visit The Texas Division of the IAI website www.tdiai.org   to view these finalized documents.

I hope members and their agencies will consider hosting a future TDIAI conference.  We are still in need of a site location for 2013 and beyond.  Contact our Site Committee or any officer for more information.

Visit the TDIAI website www.tdiai.org for more information on conferences, sites, dues, membership and current news.

I urge members to submit ideas and articles to our editor Mark Wild for our quarterly publication.  If you have written an article or came across one that you feel would be of interest to our members please consider submitting it to Mark.

The program committee for the  2011 75th Annual TDIAI Conference in Galveston is looking for presenters.   If you or someone you know is interested in speaking or giving a hands-on class please contact Program Chair, Bryan Strong, or one of the Program Committee members.

And finally, I would like to ask each and every member to talk to co-workers and associates about the Texas Division of the IAI and encourage them to join.  Let them know about the personal and professional networking available through the TDIAI.

I hope you are planning on attending the 2012 conference and I look forward to see as many of you as possible in Galveston.

Respectfully,

Jim Oliver
