Forensic Video Analysis – Level
1
This class provides the student with a comprehensive
understanding of the analog and digital technologies of video
evidence. Students will be introduced to a variety of tools
available for handling the typical challenges faced when working
with video evidence and the options for producing derivative
evidence that maintains the integrity of the original evidence. As a
hands-on class, students will be given the opportunity to work with
and clarify video evidence using a variety of tools including
Signalscape Starwitness systems, Adobe Photoshop, and Sony
Vegas.
Digital Video and Adobe
Photoshop
Forensic Examination of Digital Video Security Systems
provides a comprehensive understanding of the digital technologies
of this video evidence. Students will be introduced to an assortment
of tools available for recovering, analyzing, and clarifying this
video evidence. Extensive hands-on exercises allow the students to
explore the tools presented and practice the techniques
demonstrated.
This class includes extensive work with Adobe
Photoshop CS3 for forensic digital imaging processes. CS3 and
Adobe
Bridge will be
used to tackle specific issues related to Digital Video Security
Systems including correcting compression artifacts, rectifying
aspect ratios, reducing noise in images, and amending lens
distortions.
Recovery of Digital Video
Evidence
Digital Video Evidence Recovery will assist the
investigator at the crime scene in recovering video evidence from
digital video security systems. Best practices and guidelines will
be discussed as well as the appropriate toolkit for working with
digital video security systems. Hands-on exercises will be utilized
to assist in understanding recovery
techniques.
Forensic Video Analysis for Avid – Level
1
This class provides the student with a comprehensive
overview of the Avid Xpress® Pro interface and how to optimize the
interface for forensic video examinations. Forensic topics include
evidence handling procedures, note taking, evidence examination
techniques, case deliverables, presentation techniques, and report
writing. Each of the basic Ocean Systems dTective™ forensic filters
are explained and used extensively while students work on video
cases. Tips and tricks for working in Avid Xpress with video
evidence will also be explored.
Forensic Video Analysis for Avid – Level
2
This class provides the student with intermediate
level video processing and management techniques for video evidence
examination workflows. Both analog and digital video security system
technologies will be reviewed as well as the tools available for
processing. As a hands-on class, students will be given the
opportunity to practice the techniques taught in class on Avid
Xpress Pro laptop systems utilizing the Ocean Systems dTective™
filters.
Adobe Photoshop for
Forensics
This workshop is recommended for anyone in law
enforcement using Adobe Photoshop or another image editing
application. The workshop provides a basic foundation for the use of
image editing applications in a valid forensic workflow that meets
the requirements of court. In this three-day hands-on workshop, you
will be introduced to the key features of Adobe Photoshop CS3 and
Adobe
Bridge.
Adobe Photoshop for Latent Print
Examiners
This
workshop is recommended for anyone using Adobe Photoshop or another
imaging editing application to clarify latent prints. In this
three-day hands-on workshop, you will learn critical techniques for
the digital development of fingerprints including acquisition of
fingerprints, contrast enhancement, pattern removal, and noise
reduction.
Adobe Photoshop for Forensic Video
Analysts
Adobe Photoshop for Forensic Video Analysts is a 4-day
class that is designed to introduce and build upon image processing
techniques for the Forensic Video Analyst. This thorough workshop is
recommended for analysts with limited experience using Adobe
Photoshop, those using previous versions, or for those wishing to
learn the new powerful features of Adobe Photoshop CS3.
Forensic Digital
Photography
This two-day workshop is a hands-on workshop in which
participants use their departmental assigned digital cameras and
complete assignments photographing mock crime scenes, pieces of
evidence and injuries. Each assignment provides practical experience
in photography, and in photo problem solving.
